Angela Mancinelli is a beautiful young girl sent by her father to a quiet town in Puglia to get her away from the distractions of city life. Here she goes to live at the home of her uncle, who is also the headmaster of a local high school and the victim of the students' spite.
The girl, with her charm, wins the hearts of her uncle, her peers and even her cousin, a musician who secretly plays in a local band and has an affair with the procucious Irma. Angela aspires to higher goals and tries to gain the sympathy of a young, gruff professor.
However, due to their poor performance at school, the boys try to exploit various situations to their advantage, such as Irma's intrusion into the headmaster's house, where the chattering blackbird plays a key role. They also attempt to blackmail the professor through Angela, but their plans fail and they fail.
Angela, who should suffer the same fate, manages to avoid rejection by announcing her impending motherhood, thus softening the headmaster's severity and achieving a better result.
